Stan Vaughn
After a distinguished 40-year career at San José State University, Stan now devotes much of his time to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and animal welfare. A graduate of San José State University, he earned both a B.S. in Entomology and an M.S. in Organismal Biology, Conservation, and Ecology, building a strong foundation for a lifelong commitment to conservation and public service.
Stan is actively involved in local environmental and sociopolitical issues, with a particular interest in the conservation and responsible management of public lands. He volunteers with Santa Clara County Parks and participates in community initiatives such as the Coyote Creek Clean-Up, helping to protect and restore natural habitats throughout the region. He is also dedicated to science education outreach, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural world with diverse audiences.
A passionate advocate for animal welfare, Stan works with several rescue organizations, including Doggie Protection Services (DPS), CalPaws Rescue, and Peninsula CatWorks. Through fostering and adopting rescued dogs and cats, he helps provide vulnerable animals with safe, caring homes and a second chance at life.
Whether working to preserve natural resources, educate future generations, or support animal rescue efforts, Stan remains committed to strengthening the connection between people, communities, and the environment.
